Whether you are new to counseling or returning from some time away, one of the most important elements is comfort and trust with your therapist. As such, I'd like to take a moment to tell you a little about me and my journey.
I developed an insatiable curiosity about human behavior at an early age. This has led me on many adventures, and I've concluded it is both endlessly fascinating and very difficult to be on the planet. I know we are all a work in progress, and none of us have all the answers. That said, I believe the journey is easier when we can share our deepest feelings with someone we trust.
My training began at the University of Michigan where I received my Masters in Social Work. Throughout my career I've helped countless people traverse a wide variety of difficult life situations.
Along the way, I was introduced to Strengths Finder 2.0 and Positive Psychology. This changed my life and influenced the direction of my work. Strengths based thinking puts the focus on what we have, not what we lack. This is so powerful to me, as none of us can build a foundation from our weaknesses, or fully heal unless we honor the talents we have.
I have also been deeply moved by the work of Dr. Richard Schwartz called Internal Family Systems. It is such a compassionate, encompassing way to see ourselves. I believe it is next generation therapy! Using these principles as well as other modalities I’ve learned over the years, has helped me guide my clients into deeper understanding, confidence, optimism, and direction.
I truly believe we can have a better life. My passion is helping people who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, trauma/PTSD, and other difficult situations, find solutions and relief.
Now that you know a little about me, I would love to learn more about you and your journey.
